This guide follows the actual navigation in the app. Each section starts with a feature path, then explains the steps, saved result, and important limitations.
For the current public iOS releaseLast updated: September 23, 2026
Two things to know first
You can use Terria without an account. Data stays on the device by default. Personal iCloud Sync is off by default; profiles and current pet-avatar thumbnails enter the current Apple Account’s private CloudKit database only if you enable it.
01
Getting started
The five tabs
OverviewToday’s care, maintenance, growth summary, and recent activity.
PetsPet profiles, cards, enclosures, and professional records.
HistoryBrowse, filter, edit, or delete records by date.
SuppliesFood, medication, substrate, equipment, inventory, and cost.
SettingsReminders, appearance, language, sync, backups, Pro, and legal information.
Add your first pet
PathOverview “+” → Add Pet
Enter a name and select a species. Search by Chinese name, English name, or trait, or filter by category.
Optionally enter morph, sex, source, and purchase price.
Add acquired date, birth date, current weight, and current length. Units follow Settings → Unit System.
Assign an existing enclosure or choose Not Assigned and create one later.
Configure feeding, water-change, and cleaning schedules independently in interval or cycle mode.
Tap Save. Initial weight and length values also become growth records.
Interval vs. cycleIn interval mode, 0 means every day. Cycle mode repeats active days followed by rest days. Feeding, water, and cleaning never overwrite one another.
Add an enclosure
PathOverview “+” → Add Enclosure
Enter its name, type, and dimensions.
Optionally assign a pet and configure heating, UVB, and day/night temperature and humidity targets.
Save it for environment readings, maintenance, supply replacement, and grouped care.
02
Overview and daily care
View another date
PathOverview → date strip → select a date
A content marker means that date contains care, medication, or follow-up items. Selecting a date refreshes the care card, including future plans.
Complete care items
PathOverview → care card → Daily Care
The summary shows total, pending, completed, and affected pets.
Tap the circle to complete a simple item. Open the form first when you need food, amount, photos, or an exception.
Use the date button for another day and the edit button to add or adjust items.
Maintenance and growth
Maintenance shows days until equipment service, such as UVB replacement. Growth highlights recent weight or length changes. Tap a card to open the related enclosure or pet.
03
Pet profiles
Find and arrange pets
PathPets → top-left Sort / Filter
Sort by custom order, name, date added, or care status. Adjust Custom Order lets you drag every pet into place.
Filter by pets/enclosures and status.
Switch between two-column cards and a compact list without changing the stored profiles.
Edit a profile
PathPets → choose a pet → Edit
Tap the portrait to take or choose a photo, then drag and zoom in the crop screen.
Choose automatic, preset, or custom card color. The three choices are mutually exclusive.
Edit identity, source, purchase, status, enclosure, dates, measurements, and notes.
Physiological Fasting / Brumation lowers the weight of missed-feeding alerts; it is not medical advice.
Edit the three schedules independently and tap Done.
View keeping cost
PathPets → choose a pet → Keeping Cost
The total includes purchase price and priced food, medication, or substrate consumed by the pet or its enclosure. A cost appears only when an inventory item has a price and is deducted through a record.
04
Care records and batch actions
Quick record
PathOverview “+” → choose a record type
Record feeding, weight, shedding, waste, water, cleaning, environment readings, or supply use/replacement. You can also long-press a pet card for pet-specific quick actions.
Record feeding
Path“+” → Feeding
Select pet and time.
Select prey and freely record count, portion, grams, or milliliters. Total prey weight is optional.
Choose normal feeding, assisted feeding, refusal, or regurgitation.
For inventory deduction, select a compatible item and mark Consumed, Returned, or Discarded.
Add supplements, notes, or photos and save.
Feeding result differs from stock resultA refused item may be returned or discarded. Only consumed or discarded material reduces stock and contributes to cost.
Batch care
PathOverview “+” → Batch Care
Choose feeding, water, or cleaning and group by enclosure or species.
For feeding, choose prey, unit, per-pet amount, and optional inventory.
Check only the pets included in this batch.
Set each outcome to Done, Refused, Skipped, or Abnormal, then Submit.
05
Enclosures and environment
Open an enclosure
PathPets → Enclosure filter → choose an enclosure
The detail view combines dimensions, pets, equipment, target ranges, recent readings, and maintenance. Reassigning a pet updates both sides of the relationship.
Add an environment reading
PathOverview “+” → Environment Reading, or Pet/Enclosure → Environment
Select enclosure, date, and time.
Enter temperature, humidity, and optional notes.
Save to update trends, then compare readings with your target range and the animal’s actual condition.
06
History
PathHistory tab
Newest dates and newest records within a day appear first.
Use the date button; dates without content are disabled.
Use Filter or Return to Today.
Open a record for details and editing, or mark it complete/incomplete from its menu.
Terria asks for confirmation before deleting a record. Deleted records do not move to a trash folder; linked inventory is restored when possible. Export a complete backup first if you need a recoverable copy.
07
Supplies, inventory, and cost
Add an item
PathSupplies → “+”
Choose Food, Medication, Substrate, or Equipment and enter a name.
Enter purchase quantity and unit, such as two bags, one box, or one bottle.
For consumables, enter content per purchase unit and choose count, portion, grams, or milliliters.
Add purchase price to calculate cost from actual consumption.
Optionally enable low-stock alerts, enclosure association, and replacement period.
Use or replace supplies
PathOverview “+” → Use / Replace Supplies
Select the item and actual amount.
Choose a pet or enclosure. A pet assigned to an enclosure resolves to that enclosure and its pets.
Substrate use can refresh replacement state. Insufficient stock or a save error rolls back the whole operation.
Inventory ledger
PathSupplies → Manage beside an item
Use Consume Supplies for real use with a required target. Use Other Entry for restock, disposal, or count correction. The ledger retains quantity, unit, time, relationships, and rollback state.
08
Professional records
PathPets → choose a pet → Professional Records
VisitsClinic, clinician, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, cost, follow-up, and attachments.
MedicationDose schedules, Taken/Missed/Skipped execution, and end-of-course review.
QuarantineChecklist, notes, photos, and release history.
PedigreeDam, sire, genetic notes, and family relationships.
Breeding and clutchesPairing, eggs, per-egg state, hatching, and hatchling profiles.
Professional exportCreate a shareable file after checking consent and privacy.
Medical boundary
These tools organize records; they do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace a qualified exotic-animal veterinarian.
09
Reminders and attention items
Enable reminders
PathSettings → Care Reminders
Enable Daily Care Reminders, select a time, then configure feeding, water, cleaning, medication-dose, and follow-up reminders. iOS notification permission is required.
Attention thresholds
PathSettings → Professional Tools → Attention Thresholds
Thresholds control weight, environment, and missed-feeding alerts. Notifications can be delayed by system conditions, so inspect animals and habitats directly every day.
10
Personalization, language, and units
Personalization
PathSettings → Personalization
Choose System, Light, or Dark appearance.
Choose a preset accent or use the system color picker at the end of the palette.
Control accent-tinted backgrounds and light background presets.
Turn colored sex symbols on or off.
Choose and crop a 16:9 home status-card image. This background remains local and is not uploaded by personal iCloud Sync.
Language and units
PathSettings → Language / Unit System
Follow the system or choose Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, or Thai. Unit System changes weight, length, and temperature input and display without rewriting the meaning of stored records.
11
iCloud Sync
PathSettings → Data Management → iCloud Sync
Enable iCloud Sync. It is off on a new install; sign in to iCloud and allow Terria access first.
Personal sync covers pet profiles, care and professional records, tasks, environment, supplies, and inventory data.
Personal sync includes only a lightweight thumbnail of each pet’s current avatar. Record attachments, captured originals, and home status-card backgrounds are no longer uploaded. The separate photo-sync switch has been removed; attachments uploaded by older versions are cleaned from the private iCloud space when the upgraded app syncs.
Tap Sync Now, or let Terria sync when launched, foregrounded, or after a successful local save.
Work offline normally. On reconnect, items merge individually; the latest modification wins for the same item.
Sync may be delayedTerria receives CloudKit change notifications and performs incremental foreground sync, but iOS may delay background execution. Use Sync Now after important changes. Shared Care spaces are not available in the current public release.
12
Backup, restore, and export
Complete backup
PathSettings → Data Management → Export Complete Backup (ZIP)
The ZIP contains profiles, care logs, and linked original images. It is created locally, then shared to Files, AirDrop, or a destination you choose.
Automatic backup
PathSettings → Data Management → Scheduled Automatic Backup
Enable it and select the interval. Settings shows the latest result or failure. Keep an additional copy in a location you trust.
Restore
PathSettings → Data Management → Restore from Backup
Select a Terria ZIP package or legacy JSON archive.
Review the summary. Restore replaces current local data and photos.
Confirm Replace and Restore. Terria first makes a local safety copy, validates references, and then restores.
CSV and PDF
CSV: Settings → Data Management → Export Detailed Spreadsheet.
PDF: Settings → Data Management → Generate Monthly Care Report.
13
Terria Pro and purchases
PathSettings → Terria Pro
The free tier supports up to three active pets. Basic profiles, care, reminders, and backups are not deleted when Pro is inactive. Apple supplies current plans, localized prices, currency, and availability.
Select a plan and tap Unlock Terria Pro to use Apple In-App Purchase.
Tap Restore Purchases when a prior entitlement is missing.
Subscribers can open Apple’s subscription management sheet from the Pro page.
Lifetime does not renew. Current Pro benefits do not include any future AI service or usage.
14
Deletion and backup recovery
Delete a pet
PathPets → choose a pet → Edit → Delete This Pet Profile
This is a high-impact action that also handles related care and photos. Export a complete backup first.
Restore from a backup
PathSettings → Data Management → Import & Export → Restore from Backup
Terria does not provide a trash folder. To recover deleted content, select a ZIP backup exported before deletion or a legacy JSON archive. Terria creates a safety rollback copy before importing.
Delete the app
Deleting Terria removes its local app-space data. Exported files and content in the private iCloud database do not necessarily disappear with the local app.
15
Troubleshooting
Why is a scheduled item missing on the Overview?
Verify the selected date, then open Pet → Edit → Care Schedules and check the mode and cycle start date. Temporary overrides appear under Pet Detail → Care Plan.
Why did inventory not decrease?
Check the item’s base consumption unit, the unit used in the feeding record, and whether inventory plus Consumed/Discarded was selected. Returned does not reduce stock.
Why did a reminder not appear?
Check Settings → Care Reminders and iOS Settings → Notifications → Terria. System conditions can delay notifications, so never rely on them as the only care check.
Why is iCloud unavailable or failing?
Confirm iCloud sign-in, iCloud Drive, network access, and tap Sync Now. Turning sync off does not remove local data. Export a backup before extended troubleshooting.
Why is the price in US dollars or another currency?
Apple returns prices for the current App Store storefront, which can differ from app language or device region. Check the storefront under Apple Account → Media & Purchases.
How do I contact the developer?
Use Settings → About Terria → Contact Developer. You can also open a GitHub Issue, but never post private photos, backups, or personal information publicly.
